Meet the face behind Yana

Lillian is a solo traveller born in Nairobi but grew up in a small village in Kenya.I was a little very and I insist very black shy girl but very curious.

Having moved alot while growing up ,being bullied while growing up and hence going to a boarding school at an early age not only made me not feel I didn’t belong but it gave me alot of  insecurities..

May be it’s true I didn’t belong after all I am named after my grandmother who’s name is Wanja meaning “the one that doesn’t belong”.

Lillian, relocated to Norway and this was the last drop.she did not only feel  lost but confused.I no longer felt I knew who I was.Yes ,I identity issue.

“Lemon to lemonade”

After a long struggle with loneliness,I had an aha moment. I recalled when I was 5 tears old ,when my father flew us to mombasa for holiday. That moment when that small aircraft took off ,I had this sense of freedom and belonging.I was like a bird.

And that’s how I decided to travel around locally and internationally.

I wanted the feel of belonging which I did by meeting people who were complete strangers in a strange places that shared personal stories that I could relate too even though we were so different.

Then I understood IAM NOT ALONE.Yet in the comfort of my house with my people and I felt alone. You are not alone also.
